One of the highlights of the Festival is our ox-roast. A large oxen is put on a spit and slowly roasted over a bed of coals throughout the day.
The Pennsylvania Dutch have always been well known for their delicious food. At the Kutztown Festival we won’t disappoint you with the large selection of local food to choose from. In addition to the great food you can expect at any festival we have an all-you-can-eat family style supper with lots of local favorites including potpie and shoofly pie. Watch a full-size ox roasting on the spit before you enjoy an ox roast platter or sandwich. We have country chicken dinners, strawberry shortcake, funnel cakes and ice cream to name a few. Buy a loaf a bread as it comes out of an 18th century bake oven or stop at our farmer’s market where you can purchase home local meats, Pa Dutch sausages and bologna, cheeses and even baked goods wrapped up for the way home.
For ten days every summer for the last two decades, Vince's stand at the Kutztown Fair Grounds becomes "Das Wurst Haus" and specializes in the finest homemade wursts, sausages, and sides the region has to offer. Come celebrate Pennsylvania's rich folklife heritage and sample "the best of the wurst" at Das Wurst Haus. See you this summer!
