KUTZTOWN FESTIVAL A FAVORITE
DESTINATION
FOR SENIORS
For both new and long-time visitors, a leisurely stroll down a lane at the Kutztown Fairgrounds is a great beginning to what will be a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable day at the Kutztown Folk Festival.
And for senior citizens a day at the festival is a truly special time. They mark their calendars months ahead of time for this popular summer event.
Now in its 60th year, the folk festival is a one-of-a-kind experience that blends the old and the new in comfortable surroundings, and brings back lots of memories for thousands of seniors, many of whom return year after year.
“One big reason for the Festival’s popularity is that people enjoy revisiting the past. They like to be reminded of people, places, and about ways of life of many years ago. They recognize that this is part of their heritage. At the same time, they enjoy the new features that are added every year at the Festival and are popular with people of all ages,” according to Executive Director Dave Fooks.
Lots of seating is available at the festival’s stages and food service areas, and access to the fairgrounds is easy from the parking areas. Convenient frequent shuttle service is available from several parking lots. In addition, level surfaces on most of the fairgrounds make it easy for people of all ages to get around.
But the real reason seniors and all visitors come to the Festival is to enjoy the unequalled Early American crafts, Pennsylvania German quilts, homespun entertainment on six stages, continuous music, hoe-down dancing, seminars on folklore and folk life, antiques, lots of Pennsylvania Dutch food, and more.
