2015 Festival Wine Tour Adds New Twist

Festival wineries will be featured at the 66th annual Kutztown Festival. Area wineries participating in the festival is nothing new, but adding a few new producers and spreading them out about the Festival grounds and creating a tour like experience for Festival visitors certainly is.

Leading the way on the 2015 Festival Wine Tour is longtime Festival participant Pinnacle Ridge. The Kutztown winery will once again be offering its special edition “Fest-Wein”, complete with its 2015 festival label.  Additionally Pinnacle Ridge will have several of its numerous award winning wines available for Festival visitors to sample.

Back for another year is southeastern PA’s Paradocx Vineyard. Paradocx is always a Festival favorite with their colorful booth display and simulated paint cans that act as wine bottles creating another unique take-home souvenir.

New to this year’s festival is neighboring Schuylkill County’s Long Trout winery and Berks County Cider producer Frecon Farms. Long Trout, known for their unique blends and eccentric 1970’s motifs should be sure to catch visitor’s attention. Frecon Farms adds another unique twist to the Festival wine tour with their selections of hard ciders. It’s no coincidence that wine and hard cider or “cider twice” were some of the early Pennsylvania Dutch country’s economic staples.

Rounding out the Festival visitors’ wine experience is Necture on the Vine. Necture On the Vine again returns to this year’s festival with there ever popular wine frapes and wine slushy mixes. They will of course have lots of their iced wine treats to sample.

Fest-Goers can follow the self-guided tour via the map included in the complimentary Festival program booklet. This year’s Festival is June 27th thru July 5th 2015. For additional information visit the festival’s website at www.kutztownfestival.com or call 610.683.1597.
